Abstract

Objectives: The purpose is to identify the risk of infection at the dentist by examining awareness of housekeeping surface contamination and determining whether current practices require improvement. Method: Samples were collected and tested using ATP meters to evaluate the pollution levels of each clinic. Employees were also surveyed to find out if they had received housekeeping surface management training or felt the need. Results: The results of the staff survey revealed that only 10% of respondents had been trained in housekeeping surface management. Of the 90% who had no training, their lack of knowledge was the highest on floor contamination. Conclusion: The findings revealed low level of awareness about housekeeping surface management due to the lack of training and standards. The development of guidelines, therefore, is imperative if current practices are to be improved.
