Abstract

The purpose of this study is to confirm the behavior of personal hygiene habits through the relationship between the frequency of hand washing and the frequency of tooth brushing among university students. The study subjects were university students who participated in the “tooth love day” campaign of K-university in Daegu · Gyeongbuk province, acquired using convenience sampling. Analysis of the frequency of hand washing and tooth brushing according to the subjects’ general characteristics was performed by t-test and analysis of variance using the SPSS 26.0 program. The average number of teeth brushing per day was 2.73±0.76, and the frequency was higher in the group that washed their hands more than three times a day than in the group that washed their hands less than twice a day (p=0.095). Our results, showing that there is a difference in the frequency of tooth brushing with the frequency of hand washing, suggest that personal hygiene behavior may affect oral health.
