Abstract

This study aimed to identify the possibility of using Carbopol 940, 941, and 980 as alternatives of Carbopol 2050. Using Carbopol 940, 941, 980, and 2050, 1% demineralization solution of pH 4.8 was prepared, and the bovine teeth were immersed for 96 h. Early carious lesions formed in each group were compared and observed using quantitative light-induced fluorescence-digital Vickers microhardness and polarized light microscope. After 96 h, early carious lesions were observed and occurred in all groups. Among them, the surface microhardness, fluorescence loss values, and histological characteristics of Carbopol 940 and 941 were similar to those of Carbopol 2050. The Carbopol 940 and 941 can be alternatives of Carbopol 2050.
